Company Profile

It’s All About Kids (IAAK) is a Hawaii based company that provides Supplemental Educational Services (SES) to kindergarten through 8th grade students of Hawaii. IAAK’s fun, innovative, computer based educational curriculum (CompassLearning™) is designed to improve students’ core academic skills while motivating them to embrace learning and scholastic achievement.

It’s All About Kids provides Supplemental Educational Services (SES) in accordance with the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB). Under NCLB, economically disadvantaged families whose children attend schools that have been identified as being “in need of school improvement, Year 2” have the right to select a state-approved SES provider to deliver federally-funded academic tutoring services to their children. NCLB requires public schools to set aside a portion of their Title 1 education funds to pay for these services.

Mission Statement

At It’s All About Kids, we believe that with appropriate support, motivation and hard work, all children can become successful students. Our primary goal is to inspire children to learn, lead and succeed.

Services

It’s All About Kids (IAAK) provides after-school, weekend, and summer tutoring programs to students who are eligible for Supplemental Educational Services in accordance with the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB). Programs are available at all eligible Oahu elementary and intermediate/middle public schools, the Boys and Girls Clubs of Hawaii, Pacific Gateway Center, and other community centers throughout the island. IAAK’s innovative technology, its commitment to providing each student with individualized attention, and it’s energetic and dedicated coaching staff enable students to make considerable academic gains while building their self confidence.

No Child Left Behind

The No Child Left Behind Act was created in 2001 to bring standards & accountability to public schools.

Hawaii’s Challenges

In Hawaii, more than 25,000 students are eligible for Supplemental Education Services (SES) under NCLB. However, only 17% utilize the opportunity for this free service and Hawaii only spent approximately $2.8M of the $7.3M allocated for these programs in the school year 2004-2005, it is estimated that 44 elementary, middle and intermediate schools on Oahu qualify for SES.

Why aren’t kids using these programs?

  • Lack of providers
  • Families not aware that free services are available
  • The services were offered through existing private learning centers that aren’t conveniently located to the students
  • The educational tools were not interesting enough to capture the child’s imagination or motivation
  • There was little or no additional incentive for the students

IAAK is focused on bringing a new breed of educational services to Hawaii – services that are easy to access, fun, and accountable.
